Financial Education

Teach the value of a dollar

We know that teachers need a resource for the often mandated, but also underfunded, curriculum of financial literacy. We also know that financial literacy has yet to achieve standard curriculum status so finding quality resources poses a real challenge. Chesterfield Federal Credit Union is deeply interested in helping young people become wise stewards of their money. We’re also experts in teaching fiscal responsibility. For that reason, we’re offering Banzai—an award-winning financial literacy program—to Chesterfield County teachers and their students at no cost.

Banzai Financial Fitness

Teachers, you need a program that is engaging and interactive. Financial literacy is more about what you do than what you know. Banzai will show your students what real life is all about. It will introduce them to many of the challenges they’ll face as adults. In addition to introducing them to concepts, it will help them navigate financial dilemmas in a responsible way.

"I really appreciated the opportunity to use Banzai in my class. It really helped the students understand the importance of money management and gave them a real-life experience as to be a responsible adult. I will continue to use Banzai throughout my teaching career because I believe it will help students be prepared for their future."
Cassein Carter - Matoaca High School

You also need a program that is easy to implement. Banzai requires little to no classroom preparation. You can be fully set up with your own Banzai account, and each of your students with theirs, in mere moments. Again, the program is completely free to use.

Classroom Presentations

Chesterfield Federal Credit Union can also provide in-class speakers on a variety of financial topics, also at no cost to you. We can tailor the presentation to your lesson plan, but suggested topics include:

  • Budgeting
  • Establishing credit
  • Opening a checking account
  • Benefits of saving early
  • Navigating the car buying process

Contact Pam Saunders at 804-997-4025 or to schedule a presentation.
