Chesterfield Federal Credit Union Offers Three $1000 Scholarships to High School Seniors

Chesterfield Federal Credit Union (CFCU) has announced they will offer the Charles R. Quaiff, Sr. Memorial Youth Scholarship to three local high school students. Each scholarship is worth $1,000 towards college expenses.

The Charles R. Quaiff Sr. Memorial Youth Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, school and community service, and a written essay on the differences between credit unions and other financial institutions. Eligibility to apply extends to graduating seniors who are members or who have a parent who is a member of CFCU.  In the fifteen years that the scholarship has been awarded, CFCU has awarded over $47,000.

Applications for the Charles R. Quaiff Sr Memorial Youth Scholarship are now available for download online.

The Charles R. Quaiff Sr. Youth Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of Charles R. Quaiff Sr., one of the first ten members of CFCU.

He served as President of the credit union from 1963 to 1983 and served on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors for 27 years. Mr. Quaiff was also Chairman of the Chesterfield County-Colonial Heights Board of Social Services and retired Superintendent of Billing and Accounting for the Chesterfield County Department of Utilities. Mr. Quaiff is also considered the model for "passing on” the importance of credit unions to families and communities, especially our younger generations. He passed on his love of credit unions to his son, Charles Quaiff, Jr. who now volunteers on CFCU’s Loan Audit/Delinquency Committee.
